Moving postcards

Previously on this blog I had a “Postcards from…” series which I will admit, I haven’t really kept on top of. However I have been travelling around just as much as before. Rather than just supply stills from each trip, I have been trying to find my feet when it comes to video. Below are a few videos from recent trips I have been on in 2018:

Amsterdam: this was a small weekend away with some of my closest friends for my stag-do. I had shot most of this on my iphone with a DJI Osmo Mobile 2

Barcelona: Amy and I got married in May and we went on a mini-moon to Barcelona to enjoy all that Spain has to offer. Most of the footage from this was with my iphone with the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 and GoPro footage.

Gatebil: This was the big one, the trip I have most been looking forward to. I have shot this event numerous times in the past and I finally wanted to share with you what it is like. GoPro and Canon 5D Mk3 for this one.

What do you prefer? Do you prefer the standard postcard format or do you like the videos more? Or what about both? Let me know below.

Don’t for get to follow me on instagram too.

Postcards from Sweden & Norway

Well, this blogging thing hasn’t exactly gone as planned this year, this in fact my first post of 2017.

So for those of you who have stuck around, I appreciate it and I will try and get as much content out as I can. I will explain more about the absence later on. For now, here are some postcards from my trip to Norway and Sweden in late January of this year.

There is an event called Gatebil which I visit every year in Norway, you can read about it here, and here. This is a summer event held in both Norway and Sweden over a couple of months. They also hold an event in the winter called “Gatebil on Ice” which takes place, as you might have guessed, on ice. A frozen lake to accurate. Ever since I have heard about it I have always wanted to go and finally this was going to be my year to go, or so I thought. One week out from the event they cancelled due to lack of sufficient snow fall. With flights all booked and too short of a notice to cancel the AirB’n’B we couldn’t cancel the trip. Disappointment hit but we decided not to lose money but to take it up as a many break. Sadly my better half Amy couldn’t make it as she wasn’t booked on the original trip and flight prices were too much to afford at that time of year. SO this would be a trip with me and a few other photographer friends. We were staying in a picturesque wooden lodge in Bograngen near the Norwegian boarder which was quite literally in the middle of nowhere. Perfect, well almost, I didn’t have Amy with me.

So here are the pictures, the one with the parting in the trees is the Norwegian/Sweden boarder, I love how they show the divide. The picture above is one of the few clear nights we had above our lodge. The reason for there being so few pictures is that I had lost my about 60% of my files when my hard drive failed. I will get into that in another blog.

Postcards from Scotland

May was the month where we took our annual family holiday. This time it was to Scotland. The road trip was fraught with car troubles which meant that I was starting the holiday on the back foot. That just meant I needed to relax even more. We stayed in 20 bedroom mansion called Ardlamont House, North West of the Isle of Bute in picturesque grounds with nothing but good food, good drink and amazing company to keep us entertained. There was no wifi, there was no phone signal, just good old fashioned fresh air and stunning scenery. Honestly, I didn’t know how I would get on without my creature comforts but it didn’t take long for me to stop caring about checking instagram and facebook every five minutes. This was, in a true sense, a holiday.

Postcards from Amsterdam

I am not entirely sure where this year has gone. I have been super busy with work that I have totally neglected my blog. To keep things short and sweet, here are some postcards I shot in Amsterdam whilst on a stag-do in March. All shot on my iphone and edited using VSCOcam. All I know is, I need to go back, this place is stunning!

Postcards from Salou

A few weeks ago I went on a family holiday with my Mum & Dad, my sister and her boyfriend as well as my girlfriend Amy. We went to Salou, Spain, near Tarragona and Barcelona. It was for much need R&R style holiday and we were treated to an all inclusive hotel which was part of Port Aventura, a massive theme park. A great way to blow off some steam after a few solid weeks a work. Other than fill our faces with a seemingly unlimited amount of food we did manage to drag ourselves from the resort and do some exploring. We went to Barcelona and to Tarragona for a bit of culture. Whilst there I was also updating my instagram page with shots straight from my camera using the eyefi mobi pro card and editing with VSCOcam

Hear are some postcards I took to help paint the picture.

It was a great time, I feel much rested and look slightly browner after absorbing a years supply of vitamin D.
